Grumpy Farm-winter is coming

The slightest bit of snow gently falling and a freeze overnight, and the animals are grumpy already...

 

The guinea daddies (Chaos and Trouble) are freaking out because Miss D and their babies are no longer by the garage since we moved them yesterday.  If they'd just stop pecking the kids poor little heads they could have gone with them.  We need the keets to grow a bit more before we can integrate them for the winter, for their own safety. 

 

Oakley is super grumpy, even though he got morning grain for a change, with his new allergy meds.

Winston had enough of Oak's grumpy attitude and took off to the far paddock, which only annoyed Oakley more.

The ewes were ramming the lambs this morning so they could hog the hay, Flan and Wicket were beating on any hen that got near their hot mash.  The ducks are fine. The young chooks are fine, the banties are fine, even Princess Venga and her crew are out digging in the compost and doing fine (and she HATES the cold). 

 

Lacey and I had a great cuddle, so at least there's that...She's so incredibly sweet! I didn't have much time to spend with them in the last few days, so she seemed a little needy. That's ok : )

Lot's to do today, on and off the farm. Have several ailing chooks to take care of this week.

 

I'm going off grid this weekend, for only a day or so....but not our normal wilderness adventure off grid type of situation. I'm going to an Amish farm retreat for a spinning workshop, so that means no computers or anything. 

 

Hope the beasts can adjust soon--this is a tough transition season.  I'm feeling a little ripped off myself...We only got rid of the bugs a few weeks ago, and all the beasts were happy and playful.  So much for fall...And now, six months of winter.
