Summer of 'not to plan'

We've had the assessments done on the hail damage from the storm last month.  $40k.  New roof on house, garage, barn, chicken shed. Sand and re stain the entire deck.  I'll have to post some photos of the hail.  It's the worst we've ever seen.  G had a grapefruit sized bruise on his back to prove it.  It shattered shrubs and bushes and newly flowering elderberries.  The crazy thing is that the greenhouse was unscathed! 4 year old plastic film from Johnny's Seeds.  The hail punched holes through anything that was covered in PVC lite roofing.  So now we have multiple swiss cheese chicken tractors and outbuildings.  Six thousand dollars damage to G's car, and four thousand to my truck.

A few weeks ago there was an F1 tornado about a mile away.  That night a big spruce tree came down on the electronetting around our newly adopted chickens.  It was very lucky though--it didn't come down on the coop, or the bee hives which were about five feet on the north side. We have at least four 70' pines down on the east side of the property too.  The catbird nest in the raspberry bushes was shredded and I found no sign of the nestlings.  It's like they just got blown away into nothing.

So I need to call the arborist for anything we don't have the time and energy to cut up and remove. We've found a contractor to fix the house and garage, but I need to make sure that this year they don't destroy both of my medicinal gardens.  It was horrible last year and they haven't really recovered (nor have I apparently) I need to find a pole barn and sheet metal contractor.  We want a small extension on the east side of the barn to provide shaded runout space from the two stalls, and provide hay storage space since our giant tarped building turned out to be a disaster (it broke it's moorings and walked up the hill in a windstorm and bent her ribs and tore her sail).

So that's it for now.  I wrecked my back yesterday.  G is up north for a few days so I'm stuck with the farm on my own.  Such a shame because I was finally going to ride the horses again.

Lot's of other drama around here lately, but I don't even know how far back to go!
